I started two trains of thought last time and didn't allow myself enough time to take either let alone both of them into the depot.  I will get to the ice cap after I expand on  the notion of the whore.

Re 17:1 And one of the seven angels who had the seven vessels came and said to me, Come here, so that you may see the judging of the evil woman who is seated on the great waters;

"Harlot" is the word used in the King James.  The Basic English bible misses the point of her being the money hungry woman selling herself for power and temporary glory.  It is easier to transliterate this English translation of the Bible but please don't miss this point.  She is a Whore

2 With whom the kings of the earth made themselves unclean, and those who are on the earth were full of the wine of her evil desires.

Re 17:3 And he took me away in the Spirit into a waste land: and I saw a woman seated on a bright red beast, full of evil names, having seven heads and ten horns,

 4 And the woman was clothed in purple and bright red, with ornaments of gold and stones of great price and jewels; and in her hand was a gold cup full of evil things and her unclean desires;

 5 And on her brow was a name, SECRET, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE EVIL WOMEN AND OF THE UNCLEAN THINGS OF THE EARTH.

 6 And I saw the woman overcome as with the wine of the blood of the saints, and the blood of those put to death because of Jesus. And when I saw her, I was overcome with a great wonder.

 7 And the angel said to me, Why were you surprised? I will make clear to you the secret of the woman, and of the beast on which she is seated, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

 8 The beast which you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the great deep, and to go into destruction. And those who are on the earth, whose names have not been put in the book of life from the first, will be full of wonder when they see the beast, that he was, and is not, and still will be.

 9 Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman is seated:

 10 And they are seven kings; the five have come to an end, the one is, the other has not come; and when he comes, he will have to go on for a little time.

 11 And the beast which was, and is not, is himself the eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes into destruction.

 12 And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings, which still have been given no kingdom; but they are given authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

 13 These have one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast.

 14 These will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because he is the Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with him are named, marked out, and true.

 15 And he said to me, The waters which you saw, where the evil woman is seated, are peoples, and armies, and nations and languages.

 16 And the ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will be turned against the evil woman, and will make her waste and uncovered, and will take her flesh for food, and will have her burned with fire.

 17 Because God has put it in their hearts to do his purpose, and to be of one mind, giving their kingdom to the beast, till the words of God have effect and are complete.

 18 And the woman whom you saw is the great town, which is ruling over the kings of the earth.

There is much more here than just the whore, but the people and events listed give us the vision of the whore.  

I mentioned her as the goddess symbol but we can see her also as the goddess in person.  John is given visions and the visions also seem to have people behind the symbols in the visions.  So let's pursue that just a  bit.

First the Whore of Babylon represents that kingdom and religion mix.  Babylon was the first to worship a false god with a massive tower.  It established the pattern of using both the goddess religions and the hunter religions together, with the hunter taking the dominate role and that pattern linked to male domination. All the New Age ideas of women as superior are linked to the goddess system and all the ideas of male superior are linked to the hunter system.  That simplifies things incredibly but  it gives us the gist of those systems.  Once they are combined, the woman almost always takes a subservient role in the cultural design.  She may be "elevated" to a goddess of sexual desire, the porn queen with excessive "desirable" body traits, or as a goddess of the home, keeping the house, tending the children, cherished as an ideal of pure womanhood, but she is not represented in either system as a partner.  In Nineveh, for instance, young girls were sent to offer their bodies to anyone who passed by the entry gates of the city.  In America, we ended up with June Cleaver as the mother of us all.  While the latter is vastly kinder to the body of a woman and closer to recognizing her as a person, it still does not let her act as a partner and women  sometimes get taught that their sexual "power" is key to success in a repressed society and then you have Madonna and Britney Spears and Lady Gaga play on  that image to great success.  While that image then gets broadcast to the entire world in music videos and in some movies and TV shows.  The world was and is getting emotionally prepared for the arrival of that whore in person.

Now I want you to note that the whiore image includes a city.  Some have taken it to be Rome and the Catholic church with Mary worship as the image being followed here.  It seems even more correct when you see the "seven hills" image.  Rome was the first New Age government in that it allowed any  nation it conquered to continue with its religion.  It is clear in the Gospels that Israel was allowed to keep the Scriptures and teach from them.  The Jews were viewed as atheists since the held there to be only one God.  Acts shows Paul on Mars Hill lecturing about the unknown god whose empty pedestal stood among the hundreds of idols represented there in statues.  The point being that all those false gods keep the true God invisible to people, all that falsehood swamping the real One.  And the seven  hills also accentuates that this new future European Kingdom will be a replay of the Roman Empire.  It does not have to mean that it is set in Roman.  The fact it can better be translated as "mountains"  seems also to undercut the connection.  

Saddam Hussein was thought to be the Antichrist in some religious quarters because he was rebuilding Babylon.  My feeling is that he was the tool to get that done and much of that actual city has been "restored".  Iraq has an economy that has been rebuilt by the US with money that was much stronger then than now.  It's own currency has strengthened with oil sales, with the recapture of it's oil fields, and it has a government intent on being inclusive to try and stave off the the insurrections around it.   It will not join the Russian invasion force partial due to it's US alliance and partly because of religious differences with most of that force.  It's main problem is the Kurdish demand for a home, but that seems to be ending as that people have lost a lot of territory there:

The defeat of the Kurds in Kirkuk is devastatingly complete. “We used to be in control here and now we are not,” says Aso Mamand, the Kurdish leader in the city, summing up the situation in a helpless and embittered tone as he describes the fall of Kirkuk and the nearby oilfields to the Iraqi government forces. He would like some new power-sharing arrangements and warns of dire consequences if this does not happen, but he does not sound very hopeful.

Kirkuk used to be described as “the powder keg” of Iraq because of furiously contested rival claims to it by Kurdish nationalists and the Baghdad government. It was potentially even more explosive because its Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen communities make it a deeply divided place. But, despite these rancorous disputes and differences, when the final crisis came on 16 October, the switch from Kurdish to federal government control was surprisingly swift and peaceful.

Iraq to end semi-independent rule in Kurdistan 

Mr Mamand says that there was no battle because the Kurds simply did not have the military strength to hold the city and he is dismissive of conspiracy theories about its betrayal. Asked if the advance of the Iraqi forces could have been resisted if the two main Kurdish parties – his own Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by president Masoud Barzani – had been united, he says: “Of course not. The Iraqi forces had tanks and planes and we had no chance. Maybe we would have lasted a day if we had fought, but the only result would have been bloodshed.”

Many Kurds fled at the time and not all have returned, but there is no sign of damage from the fighting and shops and markets are open. A thunderstorm briefly emptied the streets when we were there, but otherwise traffic was heavy and there are few soldiers or checkpoints. “Do you see anything out of the ordinary?” asks the acting governor, Rakan Saeed Ali al-Jubouri, the Arab former deputy governor, whose office looks little changed from when it was occupied by the Kurdish governor Najmaldin Karim who was forced to flee to Irbil. Mr Jubouri says that “the local police are the same and there are just two battalions of the counterterrorism forces in Kirkuk”. Iraqi battalions are small so this probably means only a few hundred soldiers.

                                                                                                                                                                   

Please note that those are US weapons supplied to help stabilize the Iraqi government.  "Peace" here is linked to an attack by a superior force. It also suggests the new thinking of the world, that ideals and a country are not necessarily worth dying for.  

The Kurds may resurge there or they may find a homeland elsewhere.  The image of Babylon riding the Beast who will make false peace treaties seems to indicate the conflict will be resolved by the AC and usher in a place where the ancient religion can grow. 

But step back a bit.  Recall that there are two main figures here.  The Anti Christ and the False Prophet.  The False Prophet will cause the world to worship the AC.  He will be apparently be loyal to the end as both of them are sent to the Lake of Fire together.

The whore of Babylon riding the AC's initial successes will be cast off.  Babylon the city will lay in  ruins.

Re 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down out of heaven, having great authority; and the earth was bright with his glory.

 2 And he gave a loud cry, saying, Babylon the great has come down from her high place, she has come to destruction and has become a place of evil spirits, and of every unclean spirit, and a hole for every unclean and hated bird.

 3 For through the wine of the wrath of her evil desires all the nations have come to destruction; and the kings of the earth made themselves unclean with her, and the traders of the earth had their wealth increased by the power of her evil ways.

 4 And another voice from heaven came to my ears, saying, Come out of her, my people, so that you may have no part in her sins and in her punishments.

 5 For her sins have gone up even to heaven, and God has taken note of her evil-doing.

 6 Give to her as she gave, even an increased reward for her works; in the cup which was mixed by her, let there be mixed as much again for herself.

 7 As she gave glory to herself, and became more evil in her ways, in the same measure give her pain and weeping: for she says in her heart, I am seated here a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see sorrow.

 8 For this reason in one day will her troubles come, death and sorrow and need of food; and she will be completely burned with fire; for strong is the Lord God who is her judge.

 9 And the kings of the earth, who made themselves unclean with her, and in her company gave themselves up to evil, will be weeping and crying over her, when they see the smoke of her burning,

 10 Watching from far away, for fear of her punishment, saying, Sorrow, sorrow for Babylon, the great town, the strong town! for in one hour you have been judged.

 11 And the traders of the earth are weeping and crying over her, because no man has any more desire for their goods,

 12 Gold, and silver, and stones of great price, and jewels, and delicate linen, and robes of purple and silk and red; and perfumed wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel made of fair wood, and of brass, and iron, and stone;

 13 And sweet-smelling plants, and perfumes, and wine, and oil, and well crushed grain, and cattle and sheep; and horses and carriages and servants; and souls of men.

 14 And the fruit of your soul's desire has gone from you, and all things delicate and shining have come to an end and will never again be seen.

 15 The traders in these things, by which their wealth was increased, will be watching far off for fear of her punishment, weeping and crying;

 16 Saying, Sorrow, sorrow for the great town, she who was clothed in delicate linen, and purple, and red; with ornaments of gold and stones of great price and jewels!

 17 For in one hour such great wealth has come to nothing. And every shipmaster, and all who are sailing on the sea, and sailors and all who get their living by the sea, were watching from far away,

 18 And crying out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What town is like the great town?

 19 And they put dust on their heads, and were sad, weeping and crying, and saying, Sorrow, sorrow for the great town, in which was increased the wealth of all who had their ships on the sea because of her great stores! for in one hour she is made waste.

 20 Be glad over her, heaven, and you saints, and Apostles, and prophets; because she has been judged by God on your account.

 21 And a strong angel took up a stone like the great stone with which grain is crushed, and sent it into the sea, saying, So, with a great fall, will Babylon, the great town, come to destruction, and will not be seen any more at all.

 22 And the voice of players and makers of music will never again be sounding in you: and no worker, expert in art, will ever again be living in you; and there will be no sound of the crushing of grain any more at all in you;

 23 And never again will the shining of lights be seen in you; and the voice of the newly-married man and the bride will never again be sounding in you: for your traders were the lords of the earth, and by your evil powers were all the nations turned out of the right way.

 24 And in her was seen the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been put to death on the earth.

I am going to make a couple suggestions that I don't find in commentaries but first let Matt Henry expand on her description:

 Ver. 1. 

Here we have a new vision, not as to the matter of it, for that is contemporary with what came under the three last vials; but as to the manner of description, &c. Observe, 

1. The invitation given to the apostle to take a view of what was here to be represented: Come hither, and I will show thee the judgment of the great whore, &c., Re 17:1. This is a name of great infamy. A whore [in this passage] is one that is married, and has been false to her husband's bed, has forsaken the guide of her youth, and broken the covenant of God. She had been a prostitute to the kings of the earth, whom she had intoxicated with the wine of her fornication. 

2. The appearance she made: it was gay and gaudy, like such sort of creatures: She was arrayed in purple, and scarlet colour, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls, Re 17:4. Here were all the allurements of worldly honour and riches, pomp and pride, suited to sensual and worldly minds. 

3. Her principal seat and residence--upon the beast that had seven heads and ten horns; that is to say, Rome, the city on seven hills, infamous for idolatry, tyranny, and blasphemy. 

4. Her name, which was written on her forehead. It was the custom of impudent harlots to hang out signs, with their names, that all might know what they were. Now in this observe, 

(1.) She is named from her place of residence--Babylon the great. But, that we might not take it for the old Babylon literally so called, we are told there is a mystery in the name; it is some other great city resembling the old Babylon. 

(2.) She is named from her infamous way and practice; not only a harlot, but a mother of harlots, breeding up harlots, and nursing and training them up to idolatry, and all sorts of lewdness and wickedness--the parent and nurse of all false religion and filthy conversation. 

5. Her diet: she satiated herself with the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus. She drank their blood with such greediness that she intoxicated herself with it; it was so pleasant to her that she could not tell when she had had enough of it: she was satiated, but never satisfied.

                                                                                                                                                                   

We can recall the Roman Empire doing this, the massive killing of Christians.  We can recall the Catholic Church doing this as listed in the Book of Martyrs.  We can recall the Communist USSR doing this.  We can recall China and India still at it and the Islamic countries still doing it.  In the USA, we pretty it up with the word "persecution".  The more exact word is slaughter.  We have a thundering herd against abortion and yet no marches to stop the slaughter of Christians of different skin tones and ethnic backgrounds.  Don't get me wrong: we have the most work anywhere being done by Christians to stop this  with resources donated tom help, but then we find some who fight it ending up glorifying themselves and their ministries, having hour long talk shows concerning the evils of other people's politics and becoming attorney for the President.  Then you only hear the name of Jesus spoken on occasion.  You only hear of their efforts and what they have done.  This is not new.  It happens time and again because the whore of Babylon is not just a person or a city, it is a belief system that pervades all cultures, including the US.  

She loves idols but she also has a power to convince others that they should follow the idols, too.  She can seduce us into turning anything, everything into an idol, even the worship of God and the ministry we have to spread his Word.  

Look at rock music, like the song above.  She is an evil woman, but the singer's own heart betrayed him and turned her into the answer to his search for the perfect woman.  He wanted to find her and then everything would be good.  The cultural imperative to find that perfect mate and then things will be perfect led him to put her on a pedestal she didn't deserve and with a responsibility she could never live up to, but she was more than willing to use that feeling to get her way.  

It comes back to self worship.  Whore Babylon  let's the believer see that gods exist to serve him.  While God exists for us to serve.  When we get the idea our ministry is the only one that can do something, He will surely let us know we are wrong.  

But again, the MYSTERY of it all.

What was ancient Babylon like?

The Code of Hammurabi is a well-preserved Babylonian code of law of ancient Mesopotamia, dating back to about 1754 BC. It is one of the oldest deciphered writings of significant length in the world.  Wikkipesia

The code was basically: "The king owns everything.  Anything taken from the land belongs to the king and the act will be punished by the king.  Take a loaf of bread and YOUR ARM WILL BE CUT OFF FOR THE THEFT. Lie about someone stealing form you and you die. Do anyhting that displeases the king and you die."

The opening of the code says Hammurabi is "Bel"  who would later be one of the false gods Israel would be charged with cleansing from the land.  He was placed in power by Marduk who is sometimes seen as either Nimrod or his descendent.  Man as God.  The king is god.  Simple as that.  

And Hammy knew how we are all born evil and only the most powerful restraint can stop us from doing evil.  So he ruled by fear and power.  No thoughts of mercy ever enter this law.  

No mention of any other current god but Hammurabi.   

The Whore lets people worship anyone they want.  She is the New Age religion, perhaps even personified by a Madonna and she rides into power on the back of the AC. On her sexual exploits with men of power.  

She is also the money system.  She sells herself for riches, for power, for glory.  She is Capitalism at it's worse. She believes in the king of Id's golden rule: "Those who have the gold make the rules."   

I believe she has extensions of Babylon everywhere. 

In the Hollywood that made the movies mentioned last time.  That keeps making movies like Avatar, The Abyss, Alien, many others. 

In New York, the home of the banking industries and the stock exchange and the many brokerage firms and the insurance giants all of the officers of whom colluded to sell real estate bonds that mixed A bonds with junk bonds composed of, bad real estate funding deals and sell them in a package with other grade bonds as a great investment usually to mutual and hedge funds/  They made fortunes selling and repackaging and reselling none lamde real estate deal after another then phonied up the statistics until  they could sell off anything they personally owned.  Then let the market crash, wipe out some of the brokerage firms and then swooped in with their fortunes to buy up any good properties as individual accounts and foreclose  and make fortunes.  You can ask certain members of the current presidential administration since they remain his advisors.

 In Moscow, where Putin has become the richest man in the world.

In China where one man now holds incredible power that was designed to be held by many.

Those are just examples.  The spiritual force behind the Whore has been going on since before Babylon but found a name there in the earliest writing.  And roams  all over the Earth today.  

But who is the Whore?

Seventh Day Adventists believe it is Catholicism but expands that to the idea of  other Christians as well who don't keep the Sabbath.

Dave Hunt followed a very traditional line that the Whore is the Catholic church.  In its defense, the Church says it is really the OLD PAGAN Catholic church and that Revelation has already been fulfilled.  Kind of like: "Yes, I did it, but I'm all over that phase now."  Again if you think Catholicism has a new ecumneical spirit, spend a half hour or so listening to their radio programs.

The Whore is a religious system riding in on the back of the AC because it preaches "You can be like god.  No, You can BE God."  It always has and will until its end.

To the degree a televangelist asks for money to use to airlift food to the needy in Africa and then uses nine of the ten planes to take his mining machinery out of his dimand mine inf Africa while showing food being dropped from thew other lone polane, HE is the whore of Babylon. To the degree that any church through the ages has enriched itself and killed the saints as Catholicism has, IT is the Whore. That fits the description of her actions to a "T".   You know, like a cross.

To the degree that one church says others are going to Hell for not worshiping on the right day as Adventism does , IT is the Whore. Wishing for the blood of the Saints to prove itself right is the same as actually killing them.  That calims God's power to damn or redeem as it's own and adds legalism to the mix.

To the degree that any church suggests that those who don't exhibit a single gift are not saved and then use that gift without regard to restrictions placed by a true Apostle, IT is the Whore.  That allows talking in spiritual voices that are not required to make themselves known, unloosing spiritual forces undefined to the speaker.  

To the degree I or anyone else criticizing any of the above acts without the love of God in their hearts, I and THEY are also the Whore.

The system always opposes the Lamb.  In the hearts of men.  In the core of sin.  Babylon began the false system of man as God.  It dominated in the Roman era of Christ's time and was allowed to take the :Lamb for sacrifice to it's system.  That makes it think it can win again.

Recall Daniel. Captive in Babylon during it's greatest period.  The kings of the AC confederacy as the political power, as the ten toes of clay:

  Da 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of king Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, with which his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.

 2 And the king commanded to call to the horoscopists, and to the conjurers, and to the sorcerers, and to the Chaldeans, to tell to the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

 3 And the king said to them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

 4 And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, O king, live forever. Tell your servants the dream, and we will reveal the meaning.

 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing has gone from me. If you will not make known to me the dream, with its meaning, you will be made into mere members, and your houses shall be made an outhouse.

 6 But if you make known the dream and its meaning, you shall receive gifts and a present and great honor from me. Therefore reveal to me the dream and its meaning.

 7 They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will reveal its meaning.

 8 The king answered and said, For I know that you surely want to gain time, because you see the thing is gone from me.

 9 But if you will not make the dream known to me, there is only one judgment for you. For you have prepared lying and deceiving words to speak before me, until the time has changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can reveal to me its meaning.

 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king and said, There is not a man on the earth who can reveal the king's matter, because not any king, lord, nor ruler has asked such a thing from any horoscopist or conjurer or Chaldean.

 11 And it is a rare thing that the king asks, and there is no other who can reveal it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

 12 For this cause the king was enraged and angered, and commanded all the wise men of Babylon to be destroyed.

The false system failed the king and was destroyed.  It will eventually fail the AC and he will do the same thing.

 13 And the law went out that the wise men should be killed. And they sought Daniel and his fellows to be killed.

 14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and insight to Arioch the chief of the king's executioners, who had gone forth to kill the wise men of Babylon.

 15 He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

 16 Then Daniel went in and asked of the king that he would give him time, and that he would make known the meaning to the king.

 17 Then Daniel went to his house and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,

 18 that they might pray for the mercies of God in Heaven concerning this secret, that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

 19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. And Daniel blessed the God of Heaven.

 20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.

 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

 22 He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.

 23 I thank You, and praise You, O God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and have made known to me now what we asked of You. For You have now made known to us the king's matter.

 24 Then Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had chosen to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said this to him; Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Bring me in before the king, and I will declare the meaning to the king.

 25 Then Arioch quickly brought Daniel in before the king, and said this to him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah who will make the meaning known to the king.

 26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its meaning?

 27 Daniel answered before the king and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot be shown to the king by the wise men, the conjurers, the horoscopists, or the fortune-tellers.

 28 But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets and makes known to king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed are these.

 29 As for you, O king, your thoughts came on your bed, what should happen after this. And He who reveals secrets makes known to you what shall happen.

 30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living man, but so that the meaning might be known to the king, and that you might know the thoughts of your heart.

 31 You, O king, were seeing. And, behold! A great image! That great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before you. And its form was dreadful.

 32 This image's head was of fine gold; his breast and his arms were of silver; his belly and his thighs were of bronze;

 33 his legs were of iron; his feet were part of iron and part of clay.

 34 You watched until a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image upon its feet which were of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces.

 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were broken to pieces together. And they became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors. And the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

 36 This is the dream. And we will tell its meaning before the king.

God sends a messenger of His truth of His vision.  This will happen throughout the end times.  That king will be AhaB AND NOT LISTEN.

 37 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of Heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

 38 And wherever the sons of men, the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens live, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all. You are this head of gold.

 39 And after you shall arise another kingdom lower than you, and another third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.

 40 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron. Since iron crushes and smashes all things; and as the iron that shatters all these, it will crush and shatter.

 41 And as to that which you saw: the feet and toes, part of potters' clay and part of iron; the kingdom shall be divided. But there shall be in it the strength of the iron, because you saw the iron mixed with miry clay.

 42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle.

 43 And as you saw iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mix themselves with the seed of men. But they shall not cling to one another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
 44 And in the days of these kings, the God of Heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And the kingdom shall not be left to other peoples, but it shall crush and destroy all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
 45 Because you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it crushes the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what shall occur after this. And the dream  is certain, and its meaning is sure.

The evil kingdom of the ten will be crushed by the "not human" stone of Christ.  And that king listened to God and was seen as gold even as the AC will not and is seen as the clay we all go to after death.  

 46 Then king Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and worshiped Daniel, and he commanded to offer an offering and incense to him.

 47 The king answered Daniel and said, It is true that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.

 48 Then the king made Daniel great, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the prefects over all the wise men of Babylon.

 49 And Daniel asked the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

The Whore will head a religious system.  (The FP may well be the head Whore of the system and may be the woman we see on the Beast's shoulders.  But it seems more likely he will be her second in command.  In the Bible, there seems to be no gender designation for the office of Prophet.)  And the Whore will carry a message that everyone is God which the AC will ride to power.  Even as the Emergent Church in the USA.

Please notice that many of the current combination-of-religions ideas came from Europe so there are decades of preparation there for the ideas to take full flower.

But then the miracle of the false resurrection will occur most likely after the AC struggles with and kills the Two Messengers.  He will receive a death blow and then recover.  Then the False Prophet will begin to preach that there is only one God, "who is like unto the Beast?"    He is you may one day become if you follow him.  The comic book TV series Legends of Tomorrow, featured an immortal villain in it's first season who offered his blood to his true followers as a touch of immortality for them.  The Beast may aslo do so in a mockery, as that act was, of communion.  Then the old system of "You can be God."  get's reolaced, moved from it's Babylon to Jerusalem which will be the political home of the AC.  Some of her followers will stay with the Whore who will fear she has lost power and will want to wage war against him and may even call the kings of the Earth to be with her.  This would be where three of the countries in the alliance  would leave for her calling and they like her are defeated and there three "horns" are replaced with new horns.  So the beast has ten horns instead of seven.  (See 17 above.)

And her home of Babylon gets annihilated by the Beast. "For the sake of defending the kingdom"  the AC will have long since taken over any remaining nuclear weapons.  

And we hear the echo of Isiah:

Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.

 19 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;

 20 but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

 21 How has the faithful city become a harlot? It was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers.

 22 Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water;

 23 your rulers are rebellious, and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards; they do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them.

 24 And the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, the mighty One of Israel, says, Alas! I will ease Myself of My foes, and avenge Myself of My enemies.

 25 And I will turn back My hand on you, and purge away your dross as with lye, and take away all your alloy.

 26 And I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterwards you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.

The scarlet as evil.  these events have happened through time, were in place during Jesus era, yet God has not done verse 26 yet.  It predicts the city after the Tribulation has ended and the true King rules.  

One "member" of this group that is never mentioned is named in John's letter:

1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It is the spirit of antichrist, the spirit of rebellion against God that powers the Whore, the political and the religious, every fleshly system that ends up distancing the person of God. of Christ, of the HOLY Spirit.   The Madonna may actually exist or merely be a symbol, but her power is real and influences everyone who has a religious  bone in his or her body.  Meaning all of us.  Part of being saved is to kill her in us now, though she is called "our old man"  to worship the true God with our whole heart even as the AC will kill her physically then so people will worship him with their whole hearts.  Then the oil of God will flow and burn brightly in OUR lamps and we will not miss the arrival of the Savior.  

Because the power of the ice cap awaits to make your heart cold and away for God.
