On our way back to the judgements:
Battles occur on every level where warfare is possible. This section of war began years ago. In the place the Russians have consistently treated like their personal domain to abuse at will: the Ukraine.
https://www.wired.com/story/russian-hackers-attack-ukraine/
The Cyber-Cassandras said this would happen. For decades they warned that hackers would soon make the leap beyond purely digital mayhem and start to cause real, physical damage to the world. In 2009, when the NSA’s Stuxnet malware silently accelerated a few hundred Iranian nuclear centrifuges until they destroyed themselves, it seemed to offer a preview of this new era. “This has a whiff of August 1945,” Michael Hayden, former director of the NSA and the CIA, said in a speech. “Somebody just used a new weapon, and this weapon will not be put back in the box.”
Now, in Ukraine, the quintessential cyberwar scenario has come to life. Twice. On separate occasions, invisible saboteurs have turned off the electricity to hundreds of thousands of people. Each blackout lasted a matter of hours, only as long as it took for scrambling engineers to manually switch the power on again. But as proofs of concept, the attacks set a new precedent: In Russia’s shadow, the decades-old nightmare of hackers stopping the gears of modern society has become a reality.
And the blackouts weren’t just isolated attacks. They were part of a digital blitzkrieg that has pummeled Ukraine for the past three years—a sustained cyberassault unlike any the world has ever seen. A hacker army has systematically undermined practically every sector of Ukraine: media, finance, transportation, military, politics, energy. Wave after wave of intrusions have deleted data, destroyed computers, and in some cases paralyzed organizations’ most basic functions. “You can’t really find a space in Ukraine where there hasn’t been an attack,” says Kenneth Geers, a NATO ambassador who focuses on cybersecurity.
These cyber attacks then led to:
But over the past decade and a half, Moscow’s leash on Ukraine has frayed, as popular support in the country has pulled toward NATO and the European Union. In 2004, Ukrainian crowds in orange scarves flooded the streets to protest Moscow’s rigging of the country’s elections; that year, Russian agents allegedly went so far as to poison the surging pro-Western presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko. A decade later, the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution finally overthrew the country’s Kremlin-backed president, Viktor Yanukovych (a leader whose longtime political adviser, Paul Manafort, would go on to run the US presidential campaign of Donald Trump). Russian troops promptly annexed the Crimean Peninsula in the south and invaded the Russian-speaking eastern region known as Donbass. Ukraine has since then been locked in an undeclared war with Russia, one that has displaced nearly 2 million internal refugees and killed close to 10,000 Ukrainians.
“Russia will never accept a sovereign, independent Ukraine. Twenty-five years since the Soviet collapse, Russia is still sick with this imperialistic syndrome.”
From the beginning, one of this war’s major fronts has been digital. Ahead of Ukraine’s post-revolution 2014 elections, a pro-Russian group calling itself CyberBerkut—an entity with links to the Kremlin hackers who later breached Democratic targets in America’s 2016 presidential election—rigged the website of the country’s Central Election Commission to announce ultra-right presidential candidate Dmytro Yarosh as the winner. Administrators detected the tampering less than an hour before the election results were set to be declared. And that attack was just a prelude to Russia’s most ambitious experiment in digital war, the barrage of cyberattacks that began to accelerate in the fall of 2015 and hasn’t ceased since.
Yushchenko, who ended up serving as Ukraine’s president from 2005 to 2010, believes that Russia’s tactics, online and off, have one single aim: “to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, to make its government look incompetent and vulnerable.” He lumps the blackouts and other cyberattacks together with the Russian disinformation flooding Ukraine’s media, the terroristic campaigns in the east of the country, and his own poisoning years ago—all underhanded moves aimed at painting Ukraine as a broken nation. “Russia will never accept Ukraine being a sovereign and independent country,” says Yushchenko, whose face still bears traces of the scars caused by dioxin toxicity. “Twenty-five years since the Soviet collapse, Russia is still sick with this imperialistic syndrome.”
The Russians became invested in the two separatist terrorist groups in the east and seem to be arming them as well as backing their try to get international recognition and financing through the World Bank. Russia desperately wants that buffer of countries between them and the rest of Europe. Putin sees the chess match of possible war and wants the "castling move" to put pawns in the way of any physical attack. Plus he want protection for the rulership of subjected Crimea and the Odessa port city. As the scenario of the End Times closes in and Asia becomes increasingly unlivable after the nuclear limited war that one small port becomes a source of lifeblood to Russia and the loss will become unthinkable.
Back to today, the US has authorized the sale of new rifles to the Ukraine which will upgrade their army's ability to defend itself against ground war and against the terrorist Russian eastern parties. This act is linked with Congressional actions that begin with economic sanctions on Russia that the President who owes so much to Putin signed only to look good as Trump complained about it all the way:
https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/29/politics/russia-sanctions-treasury-department-report-cnntv/index.html
The stage gets set for that coming battle of the AC to subjugate all of Europe with a USA that is either crippled by it's own political stupidity or the results of it.
There are discussions among experts about the order of the battles in the End Times.
The Gog-Magog war with Russia involved is seen as the first by many. The one proviso is that Israel will think itself safe. There will be a treaty of some sort negotiated by someone, perhaps even the Antichrist in his early persona. the form of it can be seen now as Israeli leaders seem intent on reaching a peace pact and the current President of the USA has established himself as their good friend and is completely sure of his own powers to negotiate "the best deal in the world" on anything despite the fact he has no experience in the political arena and has shown no interest in learning.
But there are others who see a second Middle Eastern War, an attack made by powers without Russian assistance. Some see that as the trigger war.
Ps 83:1 A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. Keep not silence, O God; do not be speechless, and be not still, O God.
2 For lo, Your enemies roar; and those who hate You have lifted up their head.
3 They take shrewd counsel against Your people, and plot against Your hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, so that the name Israel may be remembered no more.
5 For with one heart they have plotted together; they have made a covenant against You--
6 the tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarites;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the people of Tyre;
8 and Assyria has joined with them; they have helped the sons of Lot. Selah.
9 Do to them as to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin at the torrent Kishon;
10 who perished at Endor; they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb; yea, all their princes like Zebah, and like Zalmunna;
12 who said, Let us take possession for ourselves of the houses of God.
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; like the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burns a forest, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire,
15 so pursue them with Your tempest, and make them afraid with Your storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD.
17 Let them be ashamed and troubled forever; yea, let them be put to shame, and lost;
18 so that men may know that Your name is JEHOVAH, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Now understand, many do not see this as a prophetic passage, they see this as something God already accomplished, Jamieson et al commentary:
Psalms 83:9-11. Compare the similar fate of these (2Ch 20:23) with that of the foes mentioned in Jg 7:22, here referred to. They destroyed one another (Jg 4:6-24; 7:25). Human remains form manure (compare 2Ki 9:37; Jer 9:22).
2Ch 20:23 For the sons of Ammon and Moab stood up against the people of mount Seir to completely kill and destroy. And when they had made an end of the people of Seir, everyone helped to destroy another.
24 And when Judah came to the watchtower in the wilderness, they looked at the multitude. And behold! They were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
(MKJV)
Now we already studied this earlier but I repeat here since Jamieson mentions it:
Jg 4:6 And she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun?
7 And I will draw Sisera to you, the captain of Jabin's army, at the river Kishon, together with his chariots and his multitude. And I will deliver him into your hands.
8 And Barak said to her, If you will go with me, then I will go. But if you will not go with me, I will not go.
9 And she said, I will surely go with you. But the journey that you take shall not be for your honor, for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And he went up with ten thousand men at his feet. And Deborah went up with him.
11 And Heber the Kenite, of the sons of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, had separated himself from the Kenites and pitched his tent toward the plain of Zaanaim, near Kedesh.
12 And they told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor.
13 And Sisera gathered all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people with him, from Harosheth of the nations to the river of Kishon.
14 And Deborah said to Barak, Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the LORD gone out before you? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15 And the LORD struck Sisera, and all the chariots, and all the army, with the edge of the sword in front of Barak, so that Sisera got down from the chariot and fled on his feet.
16 But Barak pursued the chariots and after the army, to Harosheth of the nations. And all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword. There was not a man left.
17 And Sisera fled on his feet to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. For there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, Turn in my lord, turn in to me. Do not fear. When he had turned in to her into the tent, she covered him with a rug.
19 And he said to her, Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty. And she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink, and covered him.
20 Again he said to her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be when any man comes asking of you, saying, Is there any man here? You shall say, No.
21 Then Jael, Heber's wife, took a peg of the tent and put a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him, and struck the peg into his temple, and beat it into the ground. For he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
22 And behold, as Barak followed Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said to him, Come and I will show you the man whom you seek. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the peg was in his temple.
23 And on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the sons of Israel.
24 And the hand of the sons of Israel went on, and pressed hard against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
(MKJV)
Please recall that this took place before the Psalms prayer so it is hardly an indicator of a later destruction. The tribes were still enemies of Israel in David's time.
But the notable names in the Psalms text are:
6 the tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarites;
https://www.gotquestions.org/Edom-Obadiah.html
Edom was an ancient people group that inhabited the land south of Judah and the Dead Sea. The Edomites, also called Idumeans, descended from Esau, the twin brother of Jacob (Genesis 36:1). They were of great historical importance as descendants of both Isaac and Abraham. The word Edom in Hebrew means “red,” a reference to Esau’s reddish look at birth (Genesis 25:25). Yet, despite their shared ancestry, the Edomites and Israelites lived in almost perpetual conflict. Edom refused to allow the Israelites to pass through their territory en route to the Promised Land (Numbers 11:14-17). They fought with King Solomon (1 Kings 11:14-25), opposed King Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:22), and rebelled against King Jehoram (2 Chronicles 21:8).
This kingdom had developed a government led by kings long before the monarchy arose in Israel. Genesis 36:31-39 lists the eight Edomite kings up to that time, delineating a long line of political leaders during the years in which Israel lived in slavery in Egypt.
A prominent city in Edom was Petra. This city, accessible only through a narrow canyon within cavernous mountain walls, was featured in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In the fifth century B.C., a people called the Nabateans defeated the Edomites and removed them from Petra. The Edomites were forced to move south of Israel in an area that would become known as Idumea. In the New Testament, Herod the Great, who commanded the murder of all boys two years old and younger in Bethlehem (Matthew 2), was an Idumean.
In Obadiah, Edom is mentioned twice by name (1:1, 8). Yet the focus of the entire book is on Edom’s destruction as God meted out His judgment on a historically rebellious people.
Ishmael and Hagar we have met. Abraham's mad and her son by him. Released into the wilderness and preserved by God to a special heritage even as Jacob was given his heritage by God.
Moab:
Moab (/ˈmoʊæb/; Moabite: 𐤌𐤀𐤁 mʾb; Arabic: مؤاب muʾāb; Hebrew: מוֹאָב, Modern Mō'av Tiberian Mōʾôḇ; Ancient Greek: Μωάβ Mōáb; Assyrian Mu'aba, Ma'ba, Ma'ab; Egyptian Mu'ab) is the historical name for a mountainous tract of land in Jordan. The land lies alongside much of the eastern shore of the Dead Sea. The existence of the Kingdom of Moab is attested to by numerous archaeological findings, most notably the Mesha Stele, which describes the Moabite victory over an unnamed son of King Omri of Israel.[1] The Moabite capital was Dibon. According to the Hebrew Bible, Moab was often in conflict with its Israelite neighbours.
Most important, Petra was located in the Moab territories. the place of eventual refuge for the People was in an area held by their enemies,ones god told them to destroy. Moreover, the Palestinians were given lands in Transjordan by the 1948 pact that recreated Israel. Jordanian governments have consistently forgotten this small detail.
But the previous three mark this as the "cousins" war. This idea comes from the Bedouin societal system:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedouin
"A widely quoted Bedouin apothegm is "I am against my brother, my brother and I are against my cousin, my cousin and I are against the stranger"[19] sometimes quoted as "I and my brother are against my cousin, I and my cousin are against the stranger."[20] This saying signifies a hierarchy of loyalties based on the proximity of male kinship, beginning with the nuclear family through the lineage and then the paternal tribe, and, in principle at least, to an entire genetic or linguistic group (which is perceived to akin to kinship in the Middle East and North Africa generally). Disputes are settled, interests are pursued, and justice and order are dispensed and maintained by means of this framework, organized according to an ethic of self-help and collective responsibility (Andersen 14). The individual family unit (known as a tent or "gio"[clarification needed] bayt) typically consisted traditionally of three or four adults (a married couple plus siblings or parents) and any number of children.
"When resources were plentiful, several tents would travel together as a goum. While these groups were sometimes linked by patriarchal lineage, others were just as likely linked by marriage alliances (new wives were especially likely to have close male relatives join them). Sometimes, the association was based on acquaintance and familiarity, or even no clearly defined relation except for simple shared membership within a tribe.[citation needed]
"The next scale of interaction within groups was the ibn ʿamm (cousin, or literally "son of an uncle") or descent group, commonly of three to five generations. These were often linked to goums, but where a goum would generally consist of people all with the same herd type, descent groups were frequently split up over several economic activities, thus allowing a degree of 'risk management'; should one group of members of a descent group suffer economically, the other members of the descent group would be able to support them. Whilst the phrase "descent group" suggests purely a lineage-based arrangement, in reality these groups were fluid and adapted their genealogies to take in new members.[citation needed]
"The largest scale of tribal interactions is the tribe as a whole, led by a Sheikh (Arabic: شيخ šayḫ, literally, "old man"), though the title is refer to leaders in varying contexts. The tribe often claims descent from one common ancestor—as mentioned above. The tribal level is the level that mediated between the Bedouin and the outside governments and organizations. Distinct structure of the Bedouin society leads to long lasting rivalries between different clans.[citation needed]
Bedouin traditionally had strong honor codes, and traditional systems of justice dispensation in Bedouin society typically revolved around such codes. The bisha'a, or ordeal by fire, is a well-known Bedouin practice of lie detection. See also: Honor codes of the Bedouin, Bedouin systems of justice. Urbanized Bedouin are less likely to continue such traditions, instead opting for the codes of behavior that govern the wider settled community to which they belong.

The psalm states that the immediate neighbors of Israel will launch a war for the purpose of “wiping out Israel as a nation” (verse 4). The nations described as being a part of this nefarious effort are those with a common border with Israel today (verses 6-8). The rest of the psalm is a prayer for the victory of Israel (verses 9-18).
The outcome of the war is not stated, but we know from other scriptures that Israel will be victorious. For example, in Zechariah 12:6 we are told that in the end times Israel will be like “a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples…” Also, in Amos 9:15 we are told that once the Jews are re-established in their land, “they will not again be rooted out from their land.”
Bill Salus believes this war will result in an overwhelming victory for Israel, resulting in great territorial expansion and enhanced national resources.
My personal belief is that this occurs at the beginning of the Great Tribulation, the last 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation period when the Antichrist has unveiled himself as god. There is a brief time before this. The Antichrist does battle with the two witnesses, kills them and they lay dead for three days on display for everyone to see and with the world celebrating their death. (This scene makes me suspect they were there at a lot of the scenes of tragedy and disaster warning of human failing and were treated with anger and hatred as the Old testament prophets were hated. ) But the AC also receives a death blow to the head. This event the spark for him to recover miraculously and claim his godhood. The Bible says it is at this point the Satan overshadows him.
I believe this second war will ignite after his death. He will have swept through the Mideast and upper Africa and made Babylon his city of faith. His power in league with Israel and its forces, with the remnant of American power and the EU has been overcoming and his willingness to let every nation who capitulated keep its belief system since all were correct, has made him lived almost everywhere. But fundamental Muslims retained their hatred of this idea and have been arming in preparation to rebel against him and his alliance with the hated Jewish nation.
And his apparent death sparks them to begin, His resurrection and claiming a place meant only for Allah means the final insult and this war ignites. Lead by the AC this force is also dispelled, helping cement his claim to godhood since God was the one to dispel the first Russian powered invasion force.
You may notice that I leaped ahead of all the bad stuff . But this was an intro to another section of Scripture also dealing with wars, also dealing with prophesies, these issued the our Lord. Matthew 24.
Next time.

Please recall that this took place before the Psalms prayer so it is hardly an indicator of a later destruction. The tribes were still enemies of Israel in David's time.
But the notable names in the Psalms text are:
6 the tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarites;

Matthew 24.
Next time.
